TAKING NO CHANCES
JAPANESE SHIP PASSES SYDNEY REFUSAL TO COMPLETE LOADING. TWO AUSTRALIANS LANDED BY LAUNCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, August 3. Another of the three elusive Japanese ships, the China Maru, halted five miles off Sydney Heads yesterday and transferred two Australian carpenters to a waiting launch, which brought them into the harbour, after which the China Maru set a course for Kobe, refusing to come to port to complete her loading. The carpenters wore working aboard when n.ews was received of the freezing of Japanese assets. The men said they received most courteous treatment from the Japanese captain and crew, but they received a shock at one stage of their journey from Port Pirie when the captain said he feared he would have to take them direct to Kobe. The overdue Japanese Kashima Maru with the new consul aboard is still unreported.
