OIL FUEL
RATIONING OF SUPPLIES LICENCES BEING ADJUSTED. PROCEDURE AT MASTERTON POST OFFICE. The local Oil Fuel Controller (Mr M. M. Simpson) states that, in implementing the announcement made recently by the Minister of Supply in regard to further rationing of oil fuel the following procedure is being adopted: — The records of licences have been withdrawn from all resellers’ stations, and licensees will not legally be entitled to purchase further supplies until such time as their licences have been adjusted. Licensees are requested to present their licences at the main Post Office counter for amendment. Those persons who cannot conveniently do this may post their licences to the local Oil Fuel Controller. Every endeavour will be made to make the required adjustments while licensees wait, but in the event of congestion becoming too great, it vzill be necessary for licensees to leave their licences, and they will be dealt Vith after the normal hours of business and returned to them by the first available mail.
Special attention is drawn to the fact that during the rush period it will not be possible to discuss appeals against reductions, and any licensee who claims that he has been dealt with too severely must fully set out his case in writing for consideration by the local Advisory Committee.
An appeal is made to licence holders generally to accept the cut in a generous spirit, and an assurance is given that, in amending licences, every endeavour wil be made to guard against licences being reduced below the margin required to effect the minimum saving in consumption which is desired.
