GRAIN AND PRODUCE
CANTERBURY MARKET PRICES.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 1
An increment of a halfpenny went on to the price of wheat today, Tuscan now being 5s IOAd f.0.b., and other varieties higher. A final increment of another halfpenny will go on next .month. Little wheat is now left to deal with. The Kaimifo this week lifted 5500 sacks of potatoes for the North Island, and another ship is due to load at Timaru cn Monday. The Timaru ship will probably take more than 5500 sacks. Total shipments to the north in about four weeks will, by the end of next week, have been more than 50,000 sacks, and this has had the effect of completely eliminating any inquiries on this market. The official report of the Grain and Produce Merchants’ Association today named £8 10s for Dakotas and whites, and £9 10s for Suttons, as current prices, but these figures are probably nominal, as no business has been done. Other markets are very quiet.
