METHODIST CHURCH
WOMEN’S AUXILIARY.
| ANNUAL MEETING. The Rev. H. S. Kings presided at the annual meeting of the Methodist Women’s Missionary Auxiliary which was held at the Parsonage on Thursday afternoon. Reports were read by Misses V. Jackson, E. Beale and Mrs A. J. Daysh and proved interesting and encouraging. Mr Kings expressed the thanks of the meeting to these ladies for the work they had done during the year. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the executive members. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs H. S. Kings; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. Cocker, F. G. Rutter, L. Jansen and Miss M. Burton; sub-leaders, Mesdames F. Jansen, H. Speight and Miss V. Jackson; secretary, Miss E. Beale; corresponding secretary, Mrs L. Jansen; treasurer, Mrs A. J. Daysh; box organisers, Mesdames E. Martin, J. Andrew and Miss V. Jackson; organists, Mesdames Hansen and H. Speight; stamp secretary, Mrs G. Blane; room convenor, Mrs C. R. Goudge; birthday league secretary, Mrs R. Jamieson.
Arrangements were made for a Men’s Fellowship Tea in honour of the Rev. Odell, Home Mission deputation, on Monday. A committee was appointed with Mrs C. I. Shoosmith and Miss V. Jackson as convenors.
The annual report stated inter alia: — There are 32 financial members. We miss the presence of Mesdames Cocker and Jackson, who are kept from us through illness, but we know and feel that they are present with us in spirit. Through removal we have lost Mrs Handy side, who was for some time a trustee of our Savings Bank account. We are grateful for the generosity of our members in contributing to our funds through the boxes and special functions, and we are now in a sound financial position, having £36 5s in hand for distribution as follows:— Home and Overseas Sisters' Salaries Fund, £29; Medical Fund, £2 2s 6d; Kurahuna, £2; Tiop, £2 ss; executive, 15s; and affiliation fee, 2s 6d. We are happy to relate that after considerable effort Carterton and Greytown have now formed an Auxiliary to work in conjunction with their Guilds. Your secretary attended a meeting in Carterton, at which Mrs Taylor met the ladies of both new auxiliaries and spoke on the Maori and Overseas Mission. There were about 30 present at that inaugural meeting of these two new auxiliaries. Mrs Blane has sent several packets of stamps away to. be sold. This means cleaning and sorting, and we thank her sincerely for so patiently doing this for us. Mrs Jansen has cheerfully carried out the task of Correspondence Secretary. We are sure that her words of comfort to the sick and bereaved have brought strength and confidence to all who have received them., I would also like to thank Mrs Andrew and Miss Jackson for decorating the room with flowers for our meetings.
