GREYTOWN

i, PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE CO-OPERATIVE PROPOSAL. (“Times-Age” Special.) , The Greytown Citizens' Patriotic Committee met in the Council Chambers last evening. The Mayor (Mr A. W. Horton) presided. Also present were Mesdames A. W. Horton. Harris, Maddison, Anker. Johnson, Gregor, Knell. F. Wood, Beu, Jury, Kiernan, A. Haigh, W. G. K. Wiggins. Shedden, Miss Wiggins, Messrs Shedden, M. Boyle, J. Kiernan. J. F. Thompson, H. G. Carter and A. H. Humphrey. Several apologies for absence were received. The whole of the executive was appointed a committee to pack the parcels for Greytown soldiers serving overseas. They will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The meeting endorsed the resolution of the conference of local bodies held at Masterton on July 21 that money for patriotic funds continue to be raised by voluntary subscription.. The following were appointed a subcommittee for the rehabilitation of soldiers: Messrs A. W. Horton. S. C. Shedden. H. G. Carter. J. F. Thompson, Miss Higginson. There was a long discussion on the best way to arrange co-operation between the three organisations working in the district, and a meeting is to be held to which the executive officers of each body will be invited. The committee confirmed its proposal to forward parcels bimonthly to local soldiers overseas as well as the quarterly quota sent from the Dominion. Golf. The first round of club championships will be played on Saturday afternoon. The teams to play Manor Park will be arranged on Saturday afternoon. Hockey. The Scouts’ hockey team to play College A al Greytown at 1.30 p.m. tomorrow is: I. Trotman (captain). R. Jury, D. Ross. W. Trotman, J. Eccles, P. Farrell, F. Skeet, R. Day, P. Anker, P. Brabender, R. Gallon. Football Match. Grey town enthusiasts are reminded of the Rugby match to be played at Carterton tomorrow between the Saracens and the Warriors. All the arrangements have been completed and a most enjoyable afternoon's Rugby is assured.
