MANURE RATIONING

APPLICATIONS FOR INCREASED ALLOWANCES POLICY OF MASTERTON COMMITTEE. STATEMENT BY CHAIRMAN. “As announced recently all applications for increased allowances of phosphatic fertiliser for topdressing purposes must be in our hands by Friday, August 15,” stated Mr N. Lamont, chairman of the Masterton Fertiliser Committee today. “It should be understood also that after this date no further evidence in support of applications can be accepted and applicants are strongly advised to make absolutely certain that they have presented their cases in the strongest possible way by supplying the committee with all relevant details. Furthermore, these details should be sufficient to enable the committee to confirm statements if necessary. For example, if an applicant can establish that he normally uses, say, 10 tons every year but only averaged 5 tons for each of the two years on which rationing is based, it is likely that his application would be favourably considered. It would be necessary in such a case, however, to give the actual quantities used for topdressing over a period of years and the names of the suppliers in order to fully substantiate the case. “At the same time good and sufficient reasons should be available to account for the smaller usage over the basic period, e.g., non-delivery of bona fide orders, etc. This advice applies to some who have already applied as well as to those intending to do so. It is, obviously, impossible for the committee to individually advise those who have already applied but it must be assumed that applicants can look after their own interests. It should be understood also that the committee will treat all applications absolutely impersonally, and can consider only such information as may be presented in writing without being influenced in any way by personal knowledge that they may have of any particular applicant’s circumstances. All information supplied to the committee will be treated as confidential.”
