E.P.S. COMMITTEE
MEETING IN MASTERTON. EMERGENCY PRECAUTIONS. A meeting of the executive committee of the E.P.S. was held in Masterton last night. It was decided that a representative of the Primary Schools' nominated by the Head Teachers’ Association, and a representative from the secondary and private schools be given seats on the central executive committee. It was agreed that two senior College boys be allocated to each of the No. 7 zoned areas, to report in cases of emergency to the leaders of the E.P.S. fire fighters. Mr G. G. Hancox reported that 75 senior college boys and members of the teaching staff were prepared to act as hospital orderlies. The oil fuel controller advised in reply to the committee’s enquiry, that in an emergency petrol would be under his control. The chairman and secretary were empowered to take steps to ensure a better attendance at practices of the E.P.S. fire fighting unit. It was decided to substitute the Masonic Hall for the Methodist schoolroom as the assembly point for the accommodation and evacuation committee.
