BRITAIN & FINLAND
EFFECTS OF SEVERANCE OF RELATIONS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 29. The immediate material effect of the severance of relations between Finland! and Britain will, of course, be the withdrawal of Ministers. Other matters which may be involved are receiving careful consideration. It was stated today that only a very few of the British volunteers who fought on the Finnish side in the Rus-sian-Finnish war remain in Finland, the great majority having already gone to Sweden. A British Official Wireless message reports that it is stated in London that there has been no further development yet regarding the Finnish Government’s statement that it intended to break off diplomatic relations with Britain. The British Minister is still at his post, as is the Finnish Minister in London.’ The initiative rests with the Finnish Government and any action that has been taken doubtless has been by German orders.
