NATIONAL SAVINGS

FLAG COMPETITION CAMPAIGN.

GOOD PROGRESS MAINTAINED

(Bv Telegraph—Press Association.), WELLINGTON, This Day.

During the thirteenth fortnightly period of the national savings flag competition which ended on July 23, an interesting development occurred in the Hamilton district. In that district, Raglan had previously recorded 100 per cent success, the total number of depositors equalling the total population and was thus in an unassailable position.

Edendale, in the Invercargill district, occupies pride of place for Dominion leadership with 90.5 per cent depositors to population. Ohakune Junction, in the Wanganui district, is second with 70.33 per cent, and Ruawai in the Auckland district, is third with 67.4 per cent for all districts. No changes have taken place in respect of leading towns in other districts but the percentages continue to increase. The Raglan committee has decided as a sporting gesture to hand the flag back for continued .competition among other towns in the Hamilton district. As a result. Rotorua, the next town in order of merit, again flies the flag.
