WAR SERVICE AUXILIARY
COMMITTEE MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.} A meeting of the Carterton District Committee of the, Women's War Service Auxiliary was held at the Borough Council office yesterday, there being present:-Mesdames H. E. Ordish (in the chair), W. H. Hall, Miss 0. W. Wolters and Mrs F. L. Barr (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mrs A. F. Pink. Miss Berrill reported that 24 members of the cycling and 1 transport corps were attending the first aid lectures, which are being conducted by Mrs D. L. Taverner.
It is hoped that all who are interested in canteen work will be present P. and A. Rooms at 2 p.m. on Fnday week. All members who wish to take advantage of Miss Cocks-Johnston's lectures on gardening should get in touch with Miss O. W. Wolters as soon as possible. RED CROSS SOCIETY EXAMINATION RESULTS. The following members of the Red Cross Society passed the Intermediate Home Nursing examination in both the practical and theoritical sections: — Mesdames M. Goodin, D. Steffert, Misses E. Ingley, L. Moody, V. Tucker, M. Smart, R. Vaughan and F. Eagle. GOLF DRAW FOR CLUB MATCH. The following is the draw for the President’s v Captain’s team match to be played on the Taratahi links on Saturday at 1 p.im, the names of the players in the President's team being mentioned first in each case: —From No. 1 tee: Brown v Smart, A. Pankhurst v Goodin, Dudson v Booth, Fisher v Steel, Taylor v Harrington. From No. 3 tee: Hughes v Nicholls, Hart v Clarke, Whitburn v Roydhouse, Riggs v Taverner, Gustofsen v Colson. From No. 17 tee: Candy v Lawrence, Hill v Nix, Knutson v Dwane, Barrett v M. Knowles, Callender v Court, Jackson v Beaven, W. Knowles v Broadbent, G. Pankhurst v Rogers. HOME GUARD WEEKLY PARADE. There was a large attendance at the weekly parade of the Home Guard B Company held in /he King’s Theatre last evening. Useful work was carried out in bayonet exercises, the cleaning of rifles, and physical training. A lecture on “'bombs" was of an instructive character. Personal. The funeral of the late Mr Edwin Sealy took place yesterday afternoon. Many beautiful wreaths covered the coffin. The pall-bearers were Messrs W. Adlam, F. Denbee, W. C. Deller, F. Deller, H. Deller and Hall. The officiating minister was the Rev W. F. Stent.
