NAZI PLANS OF ATTACK ON RUSSIA 8.8. C. BROADCAST TO HITLER. THE TWO-FRONTED WAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, July 29. Rudolf Hess’s betrayal of ..Germany's plans for attacking Russia have been broadcast by the 8.8. C. in an open letter in German to Hitler. I The Broadcast said: “Hess disagreed’ with your plans against Russia. He wanted peace first and came to Britain to make peace. You thought the British would ask for peace and would net associate with Russia. “Hess knew better. He knew this would be a two-fronted war which you very much dreaded and which you had sworn to avoid. “We acted in silence. Forty days and nights were between Hess’s flight and your attack on Russia. Your plans were betrayed by the man you made and loved.”
Moscow radio ' announced that Dr. Karl Haushofer, the German geographer and officer, who was a friend of Hess, has committed suicide in a concentration camp in Bavaria, where he was interned.
Dr. Haushofer, who was aged 72, was a veteran general and had been one of the foremost German military scientists. His detention was reported in London shortly after the Hess flight. •
