MILLS CUP COMPETITION.
The third qualifying round for the Mills Cup was played on Saturday, the following being the best net scores: —Miss M. Gaynor, 65 net; Miss O. Long, 67 net; Miss E. Wyber, 70 net; Mrs Simpson, 71 net; Miss M. Allison, 71 net.
The following 16 players have qualified to play off for the Mills Cup:— Mrs Simpson, 138; Miss O. Long, 140; Miss W. Reed, 148; Miss M. Gaynor, 149; Mrs W. J. Musgrove, 150; Miss U. Holtham, 151; Miss M. Allison, 151: Miss N. Smith, 155; Miss B. Frost, 156; Miss E. Wyber, 156; Mrs F. Madsen, 159; Miss C. Cummins, 159; Mrs W. Hendry, 162; Mrs D. A. Hunn, 165; Miss R. Robinson, 166; Miss J. McDonald, 167. MEN'S BOGEY ROUND. The men members of the club played a bogey round on Saturday, the best cards returned being as follows: —G. R. Ward, 2 up; W. Thornton, P. Hawksworth, 1 up; B. V. Bodie, all square; A. H W.ard, M. Thornton, K. J. Rew, C. A. Carrig, 2 down. MASTERTON CLUB GAMES HORNABROOK CUP. FIRST ROUND RESULTS. The following are the best scores handed in for the first round of the Hornabrook Cup bogey competition, played by members of the Masterton Golf Club on Saturday:—A. J. Drew, I. McLachlan, W. V. Buick, 1 up; W. Batty, G. Brown, J. Donald, G. Buick, N. G. Whiteman, E. Henderson, all square; H. H. Daniell, 1 down; R. E. Baker, C. Faulknor, R. G. Mackie, H. L. Esau, 2 down. RIVERSIDE FOURBALL BOGEY ROUND. A fourball bogey round was played on Saturday afternoon by members of the Riverside Golf Club, seniors and juniors being mixed. Some very keen competition was in evidence. The best cards handed in were: — Ladies: Mrs Rawlins and Mrs Haughey, 1 up; Mrs Palamontain and Mrs McKenzie, 1 down; Mrs Brown and Mrs Skeet, 1 down; Miss Bradley and Miss Shearer. Mrs Gilliland and Miss J. Dixon, Mrs Naan and Mrs Cross. Mrs Jones and Mrs Emery, were all 3 down. Men: C. Leigh and J. Ewen, 5 up. GREYTOWN V. RIVERSIDE WIN FOR SOUTHERN TEAM. In a match played between Riverside and Greytown clubs during the weekend the former won by 7 games to 2. The games resulted as follows, Greytown players being mentioned first in each instance: B. Kiernan and J. C. Feast beat A. Bell and B. Bell; H. W. Feast and H. R. Feast lost to J. Wakelin and R. Wearne; T. Gold and T. G. R. Ingley beat McKenzie and Reid; E. Williams and H. B. Bull beat Palamontain and* Bannister; G. Te Whaiti and S. C. Shedden beat Hallam and Levick; Ray Ingley and W. S. Brice beat Murdock and F. Shearer; K. Nix and W. Everett lost to Peterson and O’Connor; G. Brunton and G. Burns beat Onion and Leigh; Mrs T. G. Ingley and Miss Wood beat Mrs Mann and Mrs Wakelin.
The singles games which were to be played in the afternoon had to be abandoned owing to heavy rain.
