MARTINBOROUGH
GOLF MATCH WIN FOR GREYTOWN. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following is the result of a match played by the Martinborough Golf Club against Greytown on Saturday on the local course. Greytown won by 4| games to 3-j: —H. F. Harvey and W. G. Martin beat B. Kiernan and H. W. Feast; A. I. Charles and M. H. Perry beat H. R. Feast and T. G. R. Ingley; S. W. Martin and R. S. Baker lost to T. Gold and E. Williams; C. C. Moore and J. F. Wall halved with H. B. Bull and Ray Ingley; A. B. Martin and G. L. Sievers lost to N. S. McLeod and C. Shedden; F. P. Duffy and A. C. Caseley lost to T. A. Brooker and G. Brunton; W. J. Kitching and R. H. Lawrence beat I. Coleman and A. W. S. Erice; L. Speedy and J. Kershaw lost to W. Everett and F. Dewhirst. The best cards in the ladies’ competition on Saturday were handed in by Mrs Baker, Mrs Griffiths, and Miss Baker.
Personal.
Prior to their departure for Island Bay, the Rev. F. O. Ball and Mrs Ball Were farewelled by parishioners and friends in the Parish Hall. Mr W. B. Martin presided, and expressed appreciation of the excellent work carried out by Mr and Mrs Ball during their stay in Martinborough. The Ven. Archdeacon Rich, of Masterton, voiced the regret of the clergy of the Wairarapa at Mr Ball’s departure, and wished him success in his new sphere. The Rev. C. W. Madill spoke in a similar strain. Mr W. O. Hewitson presented Mr Ball with a cheque as a parting gift from the parishioners and friends throughout the district. Mr Ball suitably acknowledged the gift. Supper was then served, and later dancing indulged in to music supplied by Misses J. Grant and B. Grant and Mr F. P. Duffy.
