TWO PERSONS INJURED

MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT. • 1 COLLISION WITH POLE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 27. The driver and one passenger were seriously hurt when a sedan motor-car with four occupants collided heavily with a telegraph pole near St. Mary’s Cathedral at 3 o’clock this morning. The driver, Desmond Lewis, a seaman, single, aged 25, was extensively cut about the head by glass, and suffered concussion. His condition is serious. Miss Karin Lansberg, aged 18, Brooklyn Flats, who was sitting in the front seat, received severe nead injuries and lacerations, and is in a critical condition.

Because of the damage to the car, the injured people could only be brought out of the wreckage with difficulty. The pole was canted at an angle, and a number of insulators were broken by the impact.
