INTERCESSION SERVICE AN IMPRESSIVE SERMON. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a fair attendance at St. Mark’s Anglican Church last evening when an intercession service was held. The Rev. W. F. Stent delivered an impressive sermon. Special hymns were sung, and Mr S. T. Rooney said the prayers at the end of the service. Mrs Bath presided at the organ. Salvation Army. In furtherance to the “Back to the Bible” campaign which is being conducted by the Salvation Army, a sacred community sing was held last night. There was a fair attendance and the service was an impressive one. Persona] Items. At St. Andrew’s Church, Carterton, last evening before a large congregas ~tion, Mr N. McPhee was married to '"■''Miss P. Bambry. Mr W. C. Robertson, late police officer at Carterton, and now a resident tit Wanganui, and his son-in-law, Mr G. Corothers, were visitors to Carterton today. Terminating Building Society. Mr L. H. Smart presided at a meeting of the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society last evening. Two appropriations by ballot were drawn and resulted in Mrs A. L. Hercock securing £450 and Mr A. H. Krahagen £6OO. Card Party. The weekly card party in connection with the Boy Scout Movement was well attended last evening. The prizes were won as follows: —Ladies: Mrs F'. Daysh. 1; Mrs Edwards, 2. Men: K. Hodder, 1; G. Bilby, 2. Miss Betty Hack was the successful winner of a bag of sugar. Ladies’ Golf. The following draw has been arranged for a club medal and Stableford bogey round to be played on the Carterton links on Saturday: —Mrs Cal-, lender and Mrs Orr; Mrs Moroney and Mrs Harrington; Miss Berrill and Mrs Colson; Miss Campbell and Mrs Johansen; Mrs Candy and Miss Smart; Mrs Murray and Mrs Robinson; Mrs Forbes and Miss Armstrong; Miss I. Corlet and Mrs Court; Miss Booth and Miss V. Corlet; Miss Peters and Mrs Knowles; Miss Lawrence and Miss Hamer; Miss J. Orr and Mrs Hastie; Mrs Nix and Miss Lindop; Miss Gable and Miss Bredin; Mrs Tankersley and Mrs Martin. Miss Bredin and Miss Campbell will be in charge of the afternoon tea. Masson and Co., Ltd., invite tenders for the purchase and removal of a large iron and wooden building. This is an opportunity for farmers I ' to secure good timber and much-needed roofing iron.
