RATIONING IN BRITAIN

EMPIRE LEAGUE OFFICIAL FINED. MISUSE OF OFFICIAL ORDER BOOK. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 22. Sir Donald Simson, secretary of the British Empire Services League, was fined £4O with 12 guineas costs at Kingstone for breaches of the rationing regulations. He entertained overseas visitors in a private house and used an official order book to obtain rationed food. The prosecutor said the authorities were satisfied that Simson did not obtain the food to gratify his own appetite, but solely for entertaining the overseas visitors. Simson was born in Otago.
