KOPUARANGA

SOCIAL CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Kopuaranga Social Club was held recently at the residence of Mrs S. J. Clarke. The president, Mr S. J. Clarke, presided over a large attendance of members. Apologies' for absence were received from Mr and Mrs C. C. Jackson and Mr and Mrs R. D. McKenzie. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: President, Mr S. J. Clarke; joint secretaries, Mrs S. J. Clarke and Mr C. P. Jarrett; committee, Mesdames E. C. Cottle, C. P. Jarrett, Misses Clarke, Wright and Westhead (3), and Messrs J. F. D. Hewitt, E. C. Cottle, H. Cottle and O. O'Connor.

It was decided to hold the Settlers’ Ball on August 7 this year. These functions have proved most successful in the past and patrons are assured of an equally enjoyable time this year. The music will be supplied by Barnes’s orchestra. The supper arrangements are in the hands of an energetic ladies’ committee, while the members of the local Home Guard have charge of the decorating. The proceeds are to be used for the local patriotic fund, namely, the Home Guard fund, the V.A.D. equipment fund, and the soldiers’ parcel fund. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chairman, and also to Mrs Clarke for the use of her home.
