CHEESE INDUSTRY
THE REGISTRATION ORDER. SOME NEGLECT BY WORKERS & FACTORIES. MINISTER’S REMINDER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister of National Service (Mr Semple) stated today that some hundreds of workers in cheese manufacturing industry had not yet fulfilled their obligations under the Cheese Industry (Registration of Employment) Order, whereby men engaged in that industry, as well as those who at any time since July 1. 1936, have been employed continuously in the industry for three months or more, were required to register by July 14. Mr Semple urged those eligible to register to do so immediately.
The order also required cheese factories to register and supply certain information to enable provision to be made to meet the labour requirements cf the industry for the coming season. The Minister said that here again only a small number of registrations had been effected within the time limit, and emphasised the necessity for early registration.
