CHANGES IN INDIA
EXECUTIVE AND NATIONAL COUNCILS GIVEN MIXED RECEPTION. VIEWS OF PARTY LEADERS & THE PRESS. (By Telegraph—-Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) BOMBAY. July 22. The expansion of the Viceroy’s Executive Council and the establishment of a National Defence Council are given a mixed reception by party leaders and the Press. Mr Savarkak, President of the All India Hindu Movement, welcomes the step. On the contrary, Mr Jinnah. President of the Muslim League, says the changes are deeply regretted and will not secure the wholehearted and genuine support of Muslims, because the Viceroy's nominees are not real representatives of the people and do not command the Muslim’s trust and confidence. The “Times of India” says that for the first time the Government of India is overwhelmingly non-official.
