ROOT CUTTINGS
WARM ATMOSPHERE ESSENTIAL. To be successful in rooting cuttings under glass a humid, warm atmosphere is essential. Rapid evaporation must be avoided in order to keep the leaves fresh and the cuttings from wilting to any great extent, until the roots are formed. This may easily be accomplished with a small frame or propagating case. This need not be elaborate or expensive. One of the best is made of four thin boards slightly higher at the back and covered with glass. An ordinary box with lid and bottom removed is suitable if it is covered with a piece of glass. The frame oi’ box should be about one foot in depth at the front and 16 inches at the back. The position the frames will occupy depends on the shape and construction of the greenhouse, but they ought to be arranged at the warmest end of the house.
