YOUNG FARMERS
STOCK JUDGING CONTEST DETAILED RESULTS. MASTERTON CLUB'S SUCCESS. For the fifth successive year the Masterton Young Farmers’ Club is to be congratulated on winning the Point Blank Challenge Cup for stock judging. This is a very fine record and is the result of consistent, solid teamwork on the part of all members. In second place this year is Alfredton, which as Wairarapa’s youngest club, also merits congratulations for its excellent performance. For the first time, a junior and a schoolboys’ section were introduced into this contest and although more Young Farmers might have been seen in the junior section, it was pleasing to record that a considerable number of schoolboys availed themselves of the opportunity provided. It is to these boys that the clubs have to lock for future members and their active participation in Young Farmers activities is welcomed. Griffin, Mastertbn, and D. Fell. 89 pts. equal, 2. On the whole it may be said that the event could be considered a most successful one, even had it oeen held under normal conditions. All clubs gave a very good account of 1 themselves although Featherston and Greytown were hopelessly handicapped through their not entering junior teams! Indeed, had senior team points only been considered these two clubs would have been second and third io Masterton. However, the experiment of introducing junior sections appears fully justified and it is hoped will serve as further encouragement for the younger members on whom the strength of the Young Farmers movement depends so much at present.
