AIR FORCE
RELATIONS COMMITTEE MEETING IN MASTERTON. GIFTS ACKNOWLEDGED. At the monthly meeting of the Air Force Relations Committee the following members were present: Mesdames H. J. '\V. Lord (in the chair), J. A. Betts, S. J. Gill, P. Nathan, A. Harcombe, and L. Gray. A letter was received from Headquarters, Wellington, as follows: —“We have been in correspondence with the Royal Air Force Comforts Committee, London, and have learnt that the foodstuffs stmt from here are not travelling successfully, and for two reasons: (1) that we are not able to send the goods in tin-lined cases, and (2) that it takes too long in transit. It has been suggested by them that in future, instead of home-made foodstuffs (excepting fruit cakes) we should send peanut butter, honey, marmite, spaghetti, barley sugar, and other suitable tinned foods.”
After the meeting the committee packed 210 tins of food suitable for sending overseas. Twenty pullovers were packed, also 8 balaclavas (with holes at the ears for telephones), 13 pairs of mittens, 2 scarves, 3 pairs of black under-gauntlet gloves.
