DAMAGE AT BENGHAZI AND ELSEWHERE IN LIBYA, (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.57 a.m.) RUGBY, July 21. A R.A.F. Middle East communique states: “Heavy bombers of the R.A.F. have continued attacks on the harbour of Benghazi. Bombs were dropped on the base of the Cathedral Mole on Saturday night, near • military headquarters. Government buildings and railway sidings. Fires and explosions, caused by a bombing attack on the previous night, were seen. “Our bombers also attacked military objectives at Tripoli. Bombs, exploding on a power station, blew masonry into the air. Aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm dropped bombs on the harbour and shipping at Tripoli. “Fighter aircraft of the R.A.F. headed off a number of bombers, escorted by Messerschmitt 109 s, which attempted to attack our shipping off the North African coast. Two of our planes are missing.”
