BOMBING RAIDS
ON TRIPOLI AND BENGHAZI ANOTHER ATTACK ON NAPLES. ADMITTED BY ROME RADIO. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright i LONDON, July 21. Benghazi Harbour was bombed once more by the R.A.F., which also raided military objectives in the Tripoli area. The Fleet Air Arm also took part. On Saturday night, the Fleet Air Arm also bombed aerodromes in Sicily. Two machines are missing. The Rome radio admits that the R.A.F. again bombed Naples last night. DAMAGE AT BENGHAZI AND ELSEWHERE IN LIBYA, (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.57 a.m.) RUGBY, July 21. A R.A.F. Middle East communique states: “Heavy bombers of the R.A.F. have continued attacks on the harbour of Benghazi. Bombs were dropped on the base of the Cathedral Mole on Saturday night, near • military headquarters. Government buildings and railway sidings. Fires and explosions, caused by a bombing attack on the previous night, were seen. “Our bombers also attacked military objectives at Tripoli. Bombs, exploding on a power station, blew masonry into the air. Aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm dropped bombs on the harbour and shipping at Tripoli. “Fighter aircraft of the R.A.F. headed off a number of bombers, escorted by Messerschmitt 109 s, which attempted to attack our shipping off the North African coast. Two of our planes are missing.”
