SCHOOL SAVINGS

FUNDS FOR WAR PURPOSES. Throughout the Dominion, School Savings Banks have been in operation for a number of years, promoting a spirit of thrift among children, as part of their training. With the approval of primary education boards, it has been decided to invest the funds in securities issued from War Expenses Account. Though the funds will be applied directly to war purposes, the School Savings Scheme remains unchanged, deposits and withdrawals being made as in the past. With the knowledge that their savings are directly helping the war effort, however, it is anticipated that children will be keen to increase their deposits and reduce withdrawals to a minimum. Any child may have a School Savings Account as well as a National Savings Account.
