S. MATTHEW’S SCHOOL
ANNUAL PARTY LARGELY ATTENDED BY CHILDREN. A THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE GATHERING. There was a large attendance on Saturday afternoon at the children’s party, which is held annually by the Parents’ Association of St. Matthew’s Collegiate School for Girls in the school assembly hall. The children spent a most enjoyable time, the arrangements for their entertainment being complete in every detail, and reflecting the greatest credit on those concerned. These happy gatherings are always eagerly looked forward to by the children, who thoroughly enter into the spirit of the party and radiate an air of enjoyment. The attendance of parents was larger than usual and they greatly appreciated the facilities provided for the children to enjoy themselves. The members of the Parents’ Association in their usual thorough manner provided an abundance,of refreshments for the children as well as the adults. A large number of the pupils of the Hadlow Boys’ School were present. The excellent programme of dances and games was in charge of Miss Margaret Mace and Mrs Messenger, both of whom carried out their duties in a manner which reflected the greatest credit upon them. The music for the dancing and the games was played by Mr B. Iveson, while Mrs Messenger supplied the music for two special dances. Pupils of the school who rendered valuable assistance in entertaining the children were Diana Maurisell, Vivienne Rich, Sheila McKenzie, Phyllis Free, Noeline Macdonald and Beth Irving.
