FRIENDLY MEETING
BRITISH AND TURKISH TROOPS ON NORTHERN FRONTIER OF SYRIA. PROGRESS OF OCCUPATION. LONDON, July 20. Yesterday first contact was made between British forces and Turkish troops guarding the frontier between Syria and Turkey. It was a most friendly meeting, reports Reuter’s correspondent at Aleppo. Positions in Northern Syria are already being consolidated by the British forces and the frontier patrolled. r ■ ' AUSTRALIAN FORCES CASUALTIES IN SYRIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, July 20. The total Australian Imperial Force casualties in the Syrian campaign were 1682. The killed in action totalled 236, including 26 officers. Died of wounds totalled 61, including four officers. Other figures are: Missing, believed killed, seven. Wounded in action 1049, including 73 officers. Wounded and missing 32, including nine officers. Missing 177, including three officers. Missing, believed prisoners, 64. Prisoners will be returned under the terms of the convention.
