SHOW AFFAIRS
MEETING AT CARTERTON WAIRARAPA AND EAST COAST SOCIETY. PRIZES FOR ABERDEEN ANGUS CATTLE SECTIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society was held at Carterton today. The president, Mr J. A. McLeod, presided over a good attendance of members. Several apologies for absence were received. Reference was made by the president to the fact that Mr T. G. Oates was absent owing to illness. It was decided to send him a letter wishing him a speedy recovery. The treasurer reported a credit balance at the Bank of New Zealand of £424 18s 4d, and a credit at the Post Office Savings Bank of £494 Is Bd, making,a total credit balance of £919. Receipts since the last meeting amounted to £37 18s 2d. Accounts amounted to £7O 3s 6d were passed for payment. The New Zealand Dorset Horn Sheep Breeders’ Society advised that Mr W. T. Pratt, Palmerston North, had donated a trophy valued at £5 5s for the exhibitor scoring the most points in the Dorset Horn section at the Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui, Egmont and Stratford shows. The Aberdeen Angus Cattle Breeders’ Association wrote stating that prizes of £3 3s for first and £1 Is for second prize winners would be allocated to the society for the yearling male and female and the 2-year heifer and bull sections. At least three exhibitors would have to be entered before prize-money would be awarded.
