PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE ANNUAL MEETING AT BELVEDERE (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Belvedere Patriotic Committee was held in. the Dalefield Dairy Co’s building yesterday afternoon, Mr A. H. Callister presiding over a good attendance.

The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. A credit balance of £23 18s over the year’s activities was shown and was considered very satisfactory. Reid, W. E. Knowles. A. E. Hall, C. A. Batchelor and A. E. Carter. Mr A. H. Callister was re-elected chairman and Mr A. E. Reid secretary and treasurer. OBITUARY MRS E. ZABELL. The death occurred suddenly this morning at Belvedere, Carterton, of 'Mrs E. Zabell, a well-known resident of the district. The late Mrs Zabell had not been in the best of health for some time. It appears that she attended to her household duties as usual this morning, and after doing so she went outside to do some work there, when she collapsed and died almost immediately. Dr. W. J. C. Wells was called, but he could only pronounce life to be extinct. It is understood that death was due to heart failure. The late Mrs Zabell was about 69 years of age. She was the second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs C. A. Richards, who formerly lived for a period at Parkvale, Mr Richards being headmaster of the school there. Mrs Zabel was a teacher at the school for 15 years. She was of a quiet and unassuming nature, and was held in great respect by her many friends. Her death came as a great shock to her family and friends.' She is survived by four daughters and one son, all of whom reside at Belvedere. Her husband predeceased her many years ago. The funeral will take place on Tuesday. Dance at Parkvale. Tonight a dance under the jurisdiction,of. the. Parkvale Patriotic Committee will be held in the Parkvale Hall. Arrangements have been made for patrons to spend an enjoyable time. Good music, supper and floor are assured. A card tournament for non-dancers will be held for which good prizes will be given.
