“MICHAEL SHAYNE, PRIVATE DETECTIVE.” “Michael Shayne, Private Detective,” with Lloyd Nolan starred in the title role and lovely Marjorie Weaver heading a strong featured cast, is a slick and different mystery adventure, which will be shown tonight. From the opening scene it moves! Created by Brett Halliday, famed mystery writer, “Shayne” is an exciting and refreshing screen detective. Rough, tough and appealing in. a story that has adventure, fast talk and real people, “Shayne” is played to perfection by Lloyd Nolan, Nolan is assigned to act as bodyguard for Marjorie Weaver, wealthy young heiress who is constantly scrapes because of wild gambling sprees. Always on hand when everything happens, Nolan manages to get quite a case worked up against himself. Everything—romance, action and thrills —is multiplied by two in the newest and best by far, of all the fastmoving Cisco Kid films, “Romance of the Rio Grande,” the associate feature. Cisco’s latest adventure takes place in the wide open spaces of old Arizona when a tenderfoot from Spain, who is Cisco’s exact double, arrives to take, over his grandfather's ranch —the richest north of the border. But a conniving cousin, played bj r Ricardo Cortez, sends out a gang of killers to intercept the gentleman.
