REMAINING SINGLE MEN TO BE CALLED UP STATEMENT BY MINISTER. “GAZETTE” TO BE ISSUED ON AUGUST 6. (Dy Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister of National Service, (Mr R. Semple) stated today that all those men remaining in Class A of the First Division of the General Reserve —that is men who have attained the age of 21 years but not the age of 41 years—will becalled up for service overseas with the Second N.Z.E.F. on August 6. “The preliminary work is at present in hand,” said the Minister, “and the names will be published in a ‘Gazette’ to be issued at 8.30 a.m. on August 6. The medical examination of the men will be proceeded with immediately after that date. It is advisable, therefore, that all the men concerned, whilst continuing in the meantime their normal employment, should place their private affairs in order as soon as possible, so that they may be available for posting to camp at short notice. As men at present under the age attain the age of 21 years, they become liable for overseas service and periodically will be called up by ‘Gazette’ for service with the Second N.Z.E.F. “Following on the calling up of men for overseas sdVvice,” concluded Mr Semple, “a further ballot will be held, to provide men for the Territorial Force. A ‘Gazette,’ containing the names of all men of 18 to 19 and 41 to 45 years of age, who are at present in the ballot register, will be published on August 19. It is anticipated that a majority of these Territorials will be required to enter camp early in September or October.”
