WON BY LORD VALENTINE. A RECORD ESTABLISHED. BRISBANE, July 13. Lord Valentine reversed form and broke the Australian and New Zealand record in winning the Doomben Cup. He ran 11 furlongs in 2.15|, a quarter of a second faster than Boaulivre’s record established in the same race last year. Lord Valentine made a great finishing run and won going away. The favourite, Gold Salute, was prominent early, but petered out over the last three furlongs and finished eighth. The result was:— Doomben Cup, Im. and 3f.: Lord Valentine, 7.2 (Percival), 1; Speeder. 7.3 (Willey), 2; Buzalong, 8.12 (Carmont), 3. One length; head. Time, 2.154.
