SPECIAL BOMBS
USED IN HEAVY RAID ON BREMEN ATTACK MADE IN DIFFICULT CONDITIONS. ON ACCOUNT OF MAGNETIC DISTURBANCES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 13. Last night in a raid on Bremen some exceptionally heavy bombs and many others of normal weight were dropped by the R.A.F. The weather conditions were difficult. Magnetic disturbances sent the compasses askew and in places thunderstorms extended up io 15,000 feet. The British planes found the targets in intervals of reasonable weather, when they could pick up the river and other landmarks. They encountered opposition from strong ground defences. Two planes are missing. , Enemy raids on Britain last night were very slight and there were no casualties or damage. There was little activity over the Channel today and only small R.A.F. patrols were seen over the south-east coast. Four R.A.F. sergeants have been picked up in the Channel after being 81 days in a rubber boat, with only a pint of water and a few sweets and chocolates between them.
