WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) • The monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute was held in the local hall on Thursday. Mrs Jarrett presided over a fair attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames S. J. Clarke and C. C. Jackson. Two soldiers’ parcels are to be made up during the month. . A Feild Day with Miss C. Johnston Will be held at Mrs Wright’s home on Thursday, August 21. This will take the place of the usual monthly meeting. Mrs Jarrett was appointed representative to the group meeting to be held to arrange for dealing with any emergency that may arise. Mrs Jarrett gave a very comprehensive report on the officers’ school held at Carterton. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Brophy and O’Connor. The hostesses for next month will be Mesdames Jackson, Wright and Miss 'Wright. In place of a demonstration members exhibited Christmas novelty gifts. The results of the competitions were: —Slippers: Mrs ' Wright, 1; Miss Wright, 2. Best bloom: Mrs Reside, 1; Mrs Jarrett, 2; Mrs Wright, 3.
