KNOX CHURCH
LADIES’ GUILD ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. A successful social gathering organised by the ladies of the Knox Church Social Guild, Masterton, was held in the McGregor Hall. At the annual meeting the Rev. J. Davie presided. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Reynolds, Ractliffe, Montgomery, Kerry and Corskie. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mrs G. W. Morice; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Ractliffe, Reynolds, Sheaber, Kerry, Kitchener and Dickel; visiting committee, Mesdames McCracken (convenor), Taylor, Malmo, Henderson, Gaskin, Tooby, Shearer and Dickel; entertainment committee, Mesdames Traynor (convenor), Kerry, Reynolds, Joseph and Stubbings; secretary and treasurer, Mrs C. A. Pickering. Mr Davie thanked the officers for their work during the past year, special reference being made to Mrs G. Dickel, the retiring secretary and treasurer, and to Mrs Traynor, the convenor of the entertainment committee. Miss McGregor moved a vote of thanks to the ladies who had been responsible for decorating the church and the hall for social gatherings and particularly Mrs Welch. The motion was carried. Mrs McGregor moved a vote of thanks to Mr Davie for the splendid sermons he had given to his congregation throughout the past year, the motion being carried. Mrs Morice thanked the Rev. Davie for presiding. The meeting was followed by an enjoyable social gathering. The programme was as follows: —Songs, Mrs J. Ogilvy, Mrs Jackson, Mr Sam Alps; trio by Mesdames Snowsill, Heyder and Speight; pianoforte solo by Mr Tiler. An amusing one-act play. “Love—and Cousin Albert,” was presented by Mr G. W. Morice. those taking part being Mrs R. Millar, Miss N. Brown, Messrs F. Morton, G. Dickel and G. W. Morice. Supper was served by members of the Guild to whom a vote of thanks was extended. Thanks were also expressed to those who had provided the items.
