STEEL FIREPLACE

HOW TO KEEP IT RUST PROOF. How to keep a steel fire-place or hearth-set bright and rustless is sometimes a problem in Masterton’s damp climate. The best way is to wipe the steel over with an oily cloth occassionally. A little linseed oil. will do for this. If some of the parts are already rusty a little paraffin will soon remedy this and rubbing with a fine emery paper will give a high polish. If your steel is not actually being used very much oil it and put it away.
