AUSTRALIA’S HEAVY WAR EXPENDITURE. LOANS OF OVER 100 MILLIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright! CANBERRA, July 10. The Federal Treasurer, Mr Fadden, revealed that Australia spent £180.000,000 on the war in the financial year ended June 30. Of this £101,000,000 was derived from loans, approximately £44,000,000 from income tax, and the war time company tax, and £10,750.000 from sales tax. Mr Fadden said that the year finished with an exactly balanced budget and a substantial cash surplus of £2.000.000. which is charged to war purposes.
