LANSDOWNE SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. GRANT FROM THE TRUST. Mr J. G. McFarlane presided at the monthly meeting of the Lansdowne School Committee held at the school last evening. There were also present: Messrs J. McGregor, R. Baker, A. Faulknor, J. Donovan, C. K. Long. C. Jarvis and the headmaster (Mr J. W. T. Jones). The headmaster reported an improved attendance during the month, the roll number now standing at 286. The first assistant, Mr H. Smith, was on sick leave his place being filled by Mrs Haywood. Members expressed sympathy to Mr Smith in his accide.nl and expressed the hope of a speedy recovery. Mr Tooby had also left the staff, having entered camp for military training. The grounds were in excellent order and routine work was being carried out. A number of pupils had taken advantage of the extended dental service.
The Trust Lands Trust advised that a grant of £35 5s had been allocated towards the school funds and the secretary was directed to acknowledge and convey the committee’s appreciation.
