The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— FORECAST: Moderate to fresh southerly winds predominating. Weather changeable, with some further showers, chiefly in the hills. Cool temperatures, with some frosts in sheltered positions. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Winds decreasing and weather gradually improving. LOCAL REPORTS. Miss A. IVI. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph. 30.17. Shade temperature: Maximum 47.2, minimum 39.0, terrestrial 40. Sunshine, nil. Rain, 75 points. Mr H. M. Buddington reports that 79 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. PHASES OF THE MOON. Last quarter, July 16, 8.7 p.m.; new moon, July 24, 7.39 p.m. SUN. The sun rose today 7.45 a.m., sets 5.8 p.m.
