FARM PROBLEMS
WAIRARAPA SHEEPOWNERS’ FEDERATION SITUATION REGARDING MEAT. SLIPED WOOL PAYMENT I STILL WITHHELD. A meeting of the executive of the Wairarapa Sheepowners’ Federation was held in Masterton yesterday af-1 ternoon. Mr A. McDonald presided over a good attendance. Matters in connection with the'meat position, storage, etc., as affecting farmers, were discussed. It was stated that all such matters were being dealt with by the Meat Board and the primary producers’ organisations, and no information could be released at present. The power of the Meat Board was now limited as the Government had taken over all meat for export. Producer control, as before the war. was still favoured by producers. It was mentioned that the £100.009 short-paid to farmers in 1940 for sliped wool from early lambs which had been killed had not yet been paid to the farmers. It was considered that there was no doubt the money should be paid out. The Meat Board, it was stated, was in favour of that being done. Messrs A. McDonald and W. A. Icrns were appointed delegates to the annual meeting to be held in Wellington on July 23. Two new members were elected. There was a discussion on the stabilisation scheme affecting ewes which had been explained previously by Mr L. T. Daniell.
