GIRLS’ HOCKEY

DANMEVIRKE TEAMS TO PLAY WAIRARAPA COLLEGE. SENIOR AND JUNIOR MATCHES TOMORROW. Girls’ hockey teams from the Dannevirke High School are visiting Masterton tomorrow to take part in matches . with the Wairarapa College senior and junior representatives. The games will be played on the College grounds, the junior one commencing at 2.45 p.m. and the senior at 3.15 p.m. As fast and interesting games are expected, it is anticipated that there will be a good attendance of parents and others to see the rival teams in action. The Dannevirke girls will arrive by the afternoon mail train from the north and will be given refreshments before starting to play. In the evening they will be entertained at a social gathering to be held in the Assembly Hall. They will return to Dannevirke by the morning mail train on Saturday. The Wairarapa College teams are:— Senior: Melva McPherson. Edna Palmer. Rosalie Hanley, Bernice Dixon, Thelma Saunders, Gwenneth Morice, Ruby Steven. Lucy Wilton (captain), Evelyn McGovern, Shirley Russell, Jean Bannister. Emergency: Betty Parker. Junior: June Couper (captain), Margaret Fly, Norma Stains, June Phillips, Pat Mason, Beth Chennells, Mary Shouler, Pat Downing, Betty Durward, Sanchia Hunter, Moira Bredin. Irene Holes. Emergencies: Natalie Rogers, Brenda Jaine.
