The official “Central Daily News” urges a conference of . all democracies in the United States for the purpose of concluding an agreement for cooperation on all fronts of the United States, Britain, Russia, and China, against the Axis, to work out a military agreement, establish a joint gen- ■ era I staff, and formulate economic co-operation, including an embargo on the Axis Powers. AUSTRALIAN MINISTER SIR F. W. EGGLESTON APPOINTED. SYDNEY, July 6. Sii' Frederick William Eggleston, barrister, of Melbourne, former Attor-ney-General in the Victorian Government. has been appointed the Commonwealth’s first Minister to China. He is recognised as an authority on Australian Pacific and Far Eastern relations. He was on the staff of the Australian delegation to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919.
