FIRST AWARD OF BAR MATE TO BRITISH ENGINEER. GALLANTRY IN EXTINGUISHING OIL FIRES. . (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, noon.) RUGBY. July 4. The first recipient of a bar to the George Medal is George Samuel Sewell, petroleum engineer at an installation at which reserves of petroleum products are stored. Both the George Medal, which was awarded him in September, 1940, and the bar now received, were given for gallantry in connection with the extinguishing of fires at’the installation.
