PEDIGREE FRIESIANS

SALE AT TURAKINA. Friesian enthusiasts will have an opportunity on Tuesday, July 15, of acquiring Friesian cattle founded on 21 years of careful breeding. This will be Major R. A. Wilson’s seventh annual sale of pedigree in-calf 2 and 3-year heifers and yearling and 2-year bulls, and will take place at Scott’s Road, Turakina. In the production record for 1938 issued by the N.Z. Friesian Association, the G.O.H.T. records above a certain standard are listed at the end of the book, and the “Mahoe” herd has the greatest number of G.O.H.T. records listed of all breeders. Over 150 “Mahoe” records are given. In Ihc season 1937-38. 14 G.O.H.T. records of over 4001bs were obtained in the herd. Last year 17 records of over 4001bs were recorded and it looks as if this figure will be exceeded this season. Attention is drawn to the long time records of some of the cows. “Mahoe Asperella,” for instance, has produced 112,8041bs of milk and 47141bs of fat. One daughter, “Mahoe Mercena Lassie,” has produced 77,8981bs of milk and 35251bs fat.' and another daughter, a full sister. “Mahoe Aquamarine,” has produced 84.0591bs of milk and 35751bs of fat, whilst a grand-daughter, “Mahoe Louise,” has already produced 42101bs of fat in eight lactations. The blood of this family is well distributed throughout the herd and those animals catalogued for the sale. Many of the purchasers at past sales have freely commented how well the “Mahoe” cattle do with’them, and this has led to repeat inquiries. This year’s offering is reported as being well up to standard. Catalogues can be obtained on application to the auctioneers, Messrs Dalgety & Co.
