REGENT THEATRE

“ARISE MY LOVE.” With the magnificent surge of the drama of our times; with the frothy light-hearted gayety of romance in Paris; with the poignance of love on the brink of disaster, a stirring new photoplay brings Claudette Colbert and Ray Milland to the Regent Theatre tonight. It is a Paramount’s “Arise, My Love,” a story of fighters. Claudette Colbert, ■as an audacious newspaper woman, fights the despots of Europe with words. Ray Milland, a flying fool, speaks above the clouds with roaring machine guns. They meet in Spain where she saves his life. He pursues her deliriously to Paris, where in one outrageously gay scene Claudette locks her shoes in the safe to keep her heart from straying. But it is inevitable that they lose their hearts to each other. With the realisation of love comes a new timidity. They want to run to the safety of America. They almost do, but a submarine intervenes and they are thrown back on the shores of Europe in the middle of the battle of France. Excellent featurettes include the latest Air Mail News, a thrilling Sportlight number and a convulsive Popeye cartoon. Plans.are at the shop of Messrs Steele and Bull and the theatre.
