WELLINGTON BEAT TARANAKI. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HAWERA, July 2. Unlike the thrilling spectacle of 12 months ago, when the visitors won by two points just on time, Wellington, in the annual Winter Show Rugby match, beat Taranaki by 20 points to 6 in a match that brought the large crowd to its feet on only a few occasions. Wellington had the advantage of weight, and though Taranaki had the greater territorial advantage, the Wellington forwards dominated the majority of set scrums and line-out work, with Cave, Finlay and Kenny best in the loose and figuring in most scoring movements. Johns at half mostly kicked through from the back of the scrum but Stott and Pearson worked well, though Pearson was getting bad passes. Martin and Wright had most to do in the three-quarters. Dance played a good game at full-back.
