CLEARING SALE
COWS AVERAGE, £l2 Is 6d. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report having held a clearing sale at Parkvale yesterday on behalf of Mr W. Adlam. The sale was an unreserved one, and confidence in the herd was revealed by the large crowd of buyers from all parts of the district. Although the cows had not been individually tested, the factory returns were given, and calving dates were also given out as the cows came into the ring. The cows were all grade Jerseys and the high standard of the herd in both type and production reflects very creditably tc the “Middlerun” Jersey stud, from which Mr Adlam has bought bulls for several years back. Throughout, the bidding was brisk and although cur numerous clearing sales have maintained excellent values this season, this is the best so far recorded. The herd averaged the highly satisfactory amount of £l2 Is 6d and the 2-year heifers averaged £ll 2s 6d. The yearling heifers made £4 10s, sows to farrow £4 5s to £5 2s 6d, slips 16s to 255. The sundries also made very good values.
