ST. ANDREW SOCIETY
GATHERING ON SATURDAY NIGHT. Visitors to the monthly gatherings of the Saint Andrew Society will have noticed that this season the programmes vary each month, the idea being to provide as big a variety as possible. The gathering to be held on Saturday will take the form of an allnight dance. Old-time dancing will be interspersed with Scots dances. The services of an orchestra have been engaged, and the Saint Andrew Pipe Band will, besides giving items during the evening, provide the music for the reels, etc. The band, under the leadership of Drum-Major Stanton, is continuing to make progress. At the August gathering the band will have charge of the programme, and it is understood that it has unearthed some new talent. This news is welcome to Scots folk as for some considerable time that want has been felt.
The society is holding fortnightly dance practices, the next being on July 15, at 7.30 p.m., in the Orange Hall. Mr A. Cruickshank has charge of the practices and those interested in learning Scots dances are cordially invited to attend.
