“THE DOVER ROAD”

LITTLE THEATRE SOCIETY PRODUCTION.

The Little Theatre Society has indeed been fortunate in securing the services of Mrs E. J. Rich as producer for its forthcoming production of “The Dover Road.” Mr A. A. Milne's famous play calls for skilful handling and delicate treatment, in which Mrs Rich has in the past proved that she excels. On this occasion, the final rehearsals now in progress are said to promise a performance equal to anything, amateur or professional, that has ever .been seen in Masterton. Mrs Rich states that she is proud of her cast, and the cast, be it said, are equally proud of their producer. Nor has the Society hesitated to pursue its professed policy of developing latent talent among its younger members. The stage-manager for “The Dover Road,” Mr W. N. Mackenzie Douglas, has made the study of stage-craft his hobby; and, moreover, has had valuable experience under such successful stage-managers as Mr J. M. Lawson and Mr C. C. L. Kyngdon. His work on the set for the new production has delighted all who have seen it, and his originality of conception. it is stated, will produce effects new to Masterton audiences. In the arrangement and furnishing of the stage, he will have the able assistance of Mesdames N. Irwin and J. M. Lawson. Mrs T. Jordan will be in charge of the wardrobe, Miss P. Shearer is property mistress, and Miss P. Gill, prompter, all of them happily .chosen for their skill in their particular departments. The hon. secretary, Mr E. K. Eastwood, 8.C0m., reports a keen demand for seat reservations for- the performances on both Saturday and Monday evenings, and, to avoid disappointment, early application for seats is advisable. The box plans are at Steele and Bull’s.
