MANY TARGETS
ATTACKED HEAVILY

IN NORTH-WEST GERMANY & RUHR. DAY & NIGHT OPERATIONS. LONDON. July 1. In daylight the R.A.F. today carried out more attacks on northwest Germany and also on a seaplane base in the Frisian Islands in two offensive sweeps over enemy territory. In north-west Germany objectives were bombed at Oldenburg, where a large fire was started in the railway goods yard. Barges on a canal nearby were also bombed. Two British planes are missing.
This afternoon heavy bombers attacked the seaplane base at Borkum, in Ihc Frisian Islands. Bombs were seen to drop on hangars and buildings. Strong fighter opposition was encountered and one bomber was shot down. An offensive patrol over Northern France by fighters was without incident. A large-scale offensive sweep took place this evening, but .no details are yet available. Last night R.A.F. bombers attacked targets in the Ruhr and Rhineland, including Cologne and Dusseldorf!'. Four of our bombers are missing.
RAIDS ON BRITAIN
MADE BY SMALL ENEMY FORCES. SOME FATAL AND OTHER CASUALTIES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m.) RUGBY, July 1. A small number of enemy aircraft flew over Britain last night, according to an official communique. Bombs were dropped at places in west and south-west England and in South Wales. Some damage was done and there were a number of casualties, including some persons killed.
