This afternoon the' Governor-Gen-eral and Lady Newall will leave Wellington to pay their first official visits to Blenheim and Nelson. Mr and Mrs W. Wilson, of Wangaehu. Master ton, have received the news that their son. Pte. W. G. Wilson, has been posted as missing. When last heard of he was in Crete.

Gunner Harold Chesney Hayne, of the Second New Zealand Echelon, who had been previously reported missing, is now known to be a prisoner of war in Greece, and is in good health. He is a son of Mr George Hayne, of Masterton.

In a casualty list issued at Wellington this morning, Gunner Vernon Francis Marks, whose daughter is Mrs R. E. Barnes, of Masterton, is officially reported from Geneva as a prisoner of war in Greece. He previously was reported as missing. The death occurred at Ballance yesterday of Mrs D. N. Speedy, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Kenneth McKenzie, of Stoney Creek. Palmerston North. The late Mrs Speedy is a sister of Mrs Charles Bannister, of Church Street, Masterton, and of Mr T. McKenzie, formerly of Masterton. The death occurred suddenly at Havelock North yesterday of Mr Alfred Ernest Joll, aged 65. Mr Joll was born in Havelock North and spent all his life in the district. He was a wellknown builder and orchardist and a prominent member of the Foresters Lodge. The following Wairarapa airmen have been instructed to report for preliminary training at Levin: —Pilots: A. R. B. Barton, Featherston; H. J. Millar Masterton; W. Twentyman, Eketahuna; R. F. D. Bourke, Pahiatua. Observer: A. J. D. Barton, Masterton. Air Gunner: A. McK. McLeod, Featherston. Pilot Officer J. W. Sievers, D.F.C., who is reported missing, was formerly a well-known footballer in Masterton having been a member of the Old Boys senior team. He received part of his education at thf Wairarapa High School. Pilot Officer Sievers represented Wairarapa on the football field in 1937.
